D&W v Somerset - Match Report
On Sunday 3rd November, Dorset & Wilts made the long trip to Wellington to play their local rivals, Somerset in their opening match of the County season. After a slow start, it was Somerset who opened the scoring.
Despite some valiant try saving tackles by Dorset & Wilts on their own try line, the well prepared Somerset side continued to extend their lead to 20 points by halftime. Undeterred, Dorset & Wilts continued to press Somerset in the 2nd half and after some fine teamwork, were able to score a deserved try by prop, Vicky Rolph, which was duly converted by Sophie Bridger.
Defensive errors and a few harsh decisions, however proved decisive, as Somerset eventually ran out winners 35-7.
Despite the scoreline, the parents & coaching team were immensely proud of the girls efforts and look forward to their next fixture, home to Devon & Berkshire on the 24th November at Weymouth RFC
